TRAINING COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
MD HQL CLASSES (Maryland Handgun Qualification License) 4 HOUR Required by State of Maryland. (INCLUDED in 16 hour Wear & Carry course)
You need this class as a resident of the State of Maryland in order to purchase a pistol.
Learn the basics of MD Law pertaining to firearm ownership, safety, storage, cleaning, and handling. NOTE: Although we will cover MD state law – Please note it is ALWAYS the responsibility of the gun owner to understand and execute the laws. Following the classroom portion, we will go to the shooting range for the live fire qualification.
This is a 4-hour class that includes all pertinent information for safe and responsible firearm ownership.
Upon successful completion of this course, you’ll be certified and able to apply to the MD State Police for your MD HQL. You'll also be able to apply for your Out-of-State Concealed Carry in AZ, FL and VA.
- Live fire training (at no extra charge to you, normally $100 an hour!! FREE to YOU) and qualification at the shooting range.
- Also, at no additional charge, you'll get certified in out-of-state concealed or wear and carry for FL, AZ, and VA

This course includes ALL info from the MD HQL course above ^^^
(please read that too!), PLUS a deep dive into situational awareness, conflict avoidance, de-escalation, MD law (firearms ownership and storage, one on one self defense, home defense, defense outside of the home, where you can and cannot carry your firearm, how to handle traffic stops, federal and state legal protections and rights), and how to effectively continue to PRACTICE / DRILL the safe and effective handling and use skills for your home and personal defense.
***It is YOUR JOB to become proficient and diligent in your safe storage and handling and usage skills. Practice WEEKLY at home at minimal to ZERO cost to you with the drills Aly give you. You WILL become more proficient with practice. This is YOUR responsibility as a firearms owner!
We take a detailed look into how to fortify your home and vehicle from predatory burglars and predators. Aly will educate you on how to spot predatory behavior in public and how to properly address it and deescalate, and steer clear of all altercations if possible (including simply LEAVING / retreating whenever you can)!
We go into mental health and how to spot and help those who are having suicidal thoughts, and how to direct them to get the help they need.
Safe storage from all persons whom are NOT to have access to our firearms is of utmost importance and Aly will help you navigate the laws around that (with children and other adults in the home etc.) and how to make the firearms only accessible to the owners of the firearms while still allowing them to be swiftly and efficiently accessed in case of emergency defense needs.
We will discuss how to handle violence if it is thrust upon you and you have no choice but to defend yourself or someone else, and the major possible life ramifications of such actions (mental anguish, loss of career, money spent to defend your actions in court, possible prison time etc.)
This course requires a LIVE FIRE certification shoot at a range with 25 rounds and minimum of 70% accuracy. Aly will guide you and walk you through this with her tried and true technical range training. All you need to do is follow her instruction.
***there is NO guarantee that you will pass the live fire certification.
(IF you fail the live fire qualification, you will meet up with Aly for a private range session paid by the hour, for a private target shooting lesson - there are NO refunds. You'll have another chance to pass the test once you've done the private lesson).
Aly's goal is to not only meet the minimal requirements of MD State Police, she wants every client to leave her class with the knowledge, confidence and skills to be an extremely responsible and skilled gun owner and carrier.
